Peter Norlin, Ph.D.

Senior Consultant / Executive Coach

Peter’s 30-plus-year career as a consultant has included stints as the Executive Director of the Organization Development Network; as an internal OD consultant-leader for USF&G Insurance and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maryland; and as an external consultant, managing his own consulting and coaching practices, so he understands the dynamics of executive leadership and business ownership at a very personal level. Executive and team coaching have always been a key part of his service portfolio, and throughout his career he has successfully enabled both individual leaders and executive leadership teams, who face a range of business challenges in widely diverse situations, to develop and fine-tune the personal mindsets, influence skills, and strategic relationships required for successful leadership–and collaboration–at the top.

Using his practical experience, in addition to his background in systems and strategic thinking; personal and group influence dynamics; ‘spoken image’ and platform skills; and emotional intelligence, he is able to design and offer customized strategies for learning and change that focus on the needs of the “whole leader.” With these diverse resources he is especially effective at enabling a leader to forge an authentic, powerful, effective executive presence.

Over the years Peter has served a wide variety of customers, in corporate, government, and not-for-profit settings; from two-person partnerships to Fortune 50 companies; and in manufacturing, health care, education, retail, hospitality, legal, financial services, entertainment, and professional services sectors. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University Master’s Degree Program in Applied Behavioral Science/Organization Development, he also has an M.A. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University and a certificate in family therapy from the Center for Study of Human Systems. His teaching experience includes faculty appointments at Vanderbilt University, Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Peter is also a professional member of the NTL Institute.

My greatest hope is that we can continue to maintain this energy together and spread it to other networks."
